Tom Hardy is a new road warrior for a new generation, but series creator George Miller is once more behind the wheel for this all-action adventure. Gasoline-charged thrills and extreme hairdos are once more the order of the day, as our hero teams up with Charlize Theron against a sadistic tribal leader.

TOMORROWLAND: A WORLD BEYOND (12A)
★★★★

This eye-popping adventure is smarter than your average Disney fare. Britt Robertson plays a girl who is given the keys to another dimension by inventor George Clooney. But rather than just enjoy the scenery, the pair must fathom its secrets to save our own world.

Formats: DVD, Blu-ray and download

DANNY COLLINS (15)
★★★

Al Pacino heads up this comedic drama that’s loosely based on the true story of English musician Steve Tilston, who received an unsent letter of support from John Lennon years after the Beatle was killed. This reworking of the tale spares us Al’s Brit accent, as he plays an over-the-hill American rock star who has lost his way in life.

LONDON ROAD (15)
★★★★

The reaction of a community to the reign of a serial killer – in Ipswich of all places – doesn’t sound like the recipe for a movie musical, but that’s just what you get here. Reworked for the screen by Rufus Norris from his National Theatre production, this is about as far from “raindrops on roses” as you can get, as everyday people’s real-life testimonies are given a melodic makeover.

Formats: DVD and download
