We knew Matilda wasn't just a muggle...

If there was a hall of fame for unusual, brilliant, magical children in fiction, Roald Dahl’s Matilda would be there, right next to Harry, Hermione and Ron.

Let’s face it —  she was certainly no muggle.

And now Mara Wilson, who played Matilda in the (amazing) 1996 film of the book, has taken to Twitter to fantasise about exactly how the child genius would have fared at Hogwarts.

Matilda would have been a bit too old to hang out with Harry, Ron and Hermione but they’d have had mutual respect for each other…

She’d have been really fond of them and understood how they felt about Hogwarts. She might have even been their mentor in difficult times…

The idea of this crossover is almost too magical to handle.
