Kylie kills Callum in shock Coronation Street Live cliffhanger

Tonight's live episode saw the surprise departure of Sean Ward from the ITV soap, while Craig Charles and Hayley Tamaddon also made their exits

Menacing Callum Logan (Sean Ward) has been killed off in tonight’s episode of Coronation Street.

The no-good drug dealer met his maker after being dealt a blow to the head by Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) in live scenes just broadcast on the ITV soap.

The Platt family was then scene hushing up Callum’s demise as David (Jack P Shepherd) and Kylie hid the body in their garage’s manhole.

Speaking about his departure, actor Sean Ward said this evening: “It’s bittersweet. I’m going to be gutted to leave Corrie, but at the same time it’s completely right for the character and, as an actor, that’s the goal. That’s what makes me happy.”

The surprise turn of events brings Ward’s time on Coronation Street to an end after nearly a year on screen. During that time, Callum has been seen threatening and blackmailing the Platts – his death tonight coming during an attack on a desperate Sarah (Tina O’Brien).

The live episode of Coronation Street formed the centrepiece of ITV’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Other developments in the hour-long visit to Weatherfield included window cleaner Tim’s discovery that bride-to-be Sally Webster had shared a kiss with ex-husband Kevin and the departure of both Craig Charles (Lloyd) and Hayley Tamaddon (Andrea) from the show.
