Anthony Horowitz, author of new James Bond novel Trigger Mortis and speaker at next week’s Radio Times Festival, recently kicked up a storm when he said Idris Elba was “too street” to play the secret agent. Although he later apologised and said he was “mortified” by his ‘clumsy’ word choice, Vulture decided to test out the theory.
Pretty good, right? The fast editing between the Spectre trailer and clips from Luther isn’t exactly seamless, but it’s a decent stab at what Elbond might look like. He just needs a few more quips, some parkour and a better tailor and we’re there.
For his part, Elba has claimed “if there was ever any chance of me getting Bond, it’s gone,” but who is he to argue with copyright skirting YouTube mash-ups?
