Patsy Kensit has had an actioned-packed life – two rock star marriages, a starring role opposite Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 2 and a two-year stint playing hard-nosed businesswoman Sadie King in Emmerdale.

And the 47-year-old actress has admitted that she still hankers after her old life in the ITV soap which she left in 2006.

“I miss Emmerdale,” the actress told RadioTimes.com.

“I miss playing that part because it was great and it was great living in the north. My kids are connected to the north. It is a huge part of their genetic make up. I would love to go back into Emmerdale.

“I did long stretches in continuous drama, but you know, I am getting old so we’ll see….”

Sadie King was last seen hatching an elaborate kidnap plot with Cain Dingle, who double-crossed her leaving her penniless and alone.

Kensit, who first found fame as a four year old in a Birds Eye frozen peas commercial, later went on to play ward sister Faye Morton in Holby City.

She is also renowned for her high profile marriages to rockers Jim Kerr and Liam Gallagher. However she says that she is enjoying her life now she feels she is out of the public limelight and is determined to continue flexing her acting muscles.

“I am not really famous any more,” she went on. “Maybe 15 years ago you could say I was but not now.

“I have spent quite a lot of time being at home and baking which may surprise people and being with my sons. The time people talk about with me was just four years of my life but there you are.

“I was walking with my youngest son down the street the other day and I told him how much I loved not being spotted. Fifteen years ago I couldn’t have done that and I don’t miss that for the entire world.”

However her fondness for the quiet life didn’t stop her entering the Celebrity Big Brother House earlier this year – becoming the third celebrity to be evicted.

Her latest role is also something of a departure – she plays the Virgin Mary in Radio 4 play The Man Who Bit Mary Magdalene.

Her character visits the Bishop of Lincoln (played by Only Fools and Horses star David Jason) after his cathedral is destroyed in an earthquake. She encourages him to sell religious relics to fund the rebuilding, but is she really who she claims to be?

“I loved the whole process of making this – it was like going back to basics, with a read through and then the performance….and I absolutely adore David Jason, he’s a real hero of mine.”
