James Sirius Potter has been sorted into his Hogwarts house

JK Rowling has revealed which house Harry Potter's oldest son has joined

It’s September 2015 which can mean only one thing: James Sirius Potter has arrived at Hogwarts. As JK Rowling reminded us yesterday, Harry’s eldest son is starting secondary school – how time flies, eh?

And with his first evening at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry came an ancient tradition: the Sorting Ceremony. Nostalgic fans will remember a nervous Harry donning the weathered hat before being sorted into Gryffindor – and it should come as no surprise that his son has followed suit.

Rowling’s tweet also brings us news of Teddy Lupin, oldest son of the late Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks. His father may have been Gryffindor, but it turns out teenage Teddy has taken after his mother, sorted into Hufflepuff and going on to become Head Boy of Hogwarts.

We like to think that Potter Jr and Lupin Jr will go on to become firm friends.
