Outlander is the most watched TV series on Amazon Prime UK

The Scottish time-travelling drama was more popular than any other TV show available on the streaming service this year

Leading man Sam Heughan was crowned RadioTimes.com Sci-Fi Champion earlier this summer but Outlander celebrates another little victory today: Amazon has revealed that the first series of the time-travelling drama is the most watched TV show on Prime Instant Video in the UK in 2015.

Set in the highlands of Scotland and based on Diana Gabaldon’s popular novels, Outlander has taken the world by storm since it aired on Starz in the USA before making its way to Europe.

In a new report – the first ever detailing how its UK customers have shopped and the trends of 2015 so far – Amazon reveals that the show actually set a binge-watching record when it was made available in April.

Series 2 of the fantasy drama, based loosely on Gabaldon’s second novel Dragonfly In Amber, is currently filming in Scotland.

Outlander wasn’t the only big winner though. Shailene Woodley and Theo James fronted dystopian drama Divergent emerged as the most watched film, while Geordie Shore alum Charlotte Crosbie’s 3 Minute Belly Blitz is among the top three items purchased by UK customers.
