Dan Fogler gushes about first day filming Fantastic Beasts: “A portal to greatness opened”

The actor, who is poised to play Newt Scamander's pal Jacob, said his first day on set was "amazing" and felt like "classic Hollywood"

We are one step closer to the recreation of JK Rowling’s Wizarding World. Filming began on the upcoming Fantastic Beasts film yesterday, with cast and crew gathering in Leavesden as the cameras began rolling.

One person who was there – rubbing shoulders with Eddie Redmayne, Colin Farrell, Alison Sudol, Katherine Waterson and co – was actor Dan Fogler.

Fogler is set to play Newt’s pal Jacob. And according to him, the first day on set was a good one…

In fact, it sounds pretty epic…

Although Fogler was careful not to share any major plot points from the upcoming movie…

Because, after all, this is serious stuff.

Fans took to Twitter to grill Fogler on his first day in front of the camera…

And he teased a little about his character in return.

(Hey, we said a little, okay?!)

We’re not entirely sure this is JK Rowling-accurate. But we like the sound of it all the same…

And, erm, talking of JK Rowling…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be in UK cinemas 18th November 2016
