Disney is adding Star Wars-themed lands to its theme parks

We'll actually be able to step into that galaxy far, far away in Disney's biggest park extension ever

Scrap any holiday plans you have because you’re going to want to start saving for this: Disney are adding Star Wars-themed lands to their park in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Visitors to the park will actually be able to step into a galaxy far, far away as Disney embarks on its biggest extension yet at 14 acres each.

“Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible. And as you can imagine, with Star Wars, we are taking that to a whole new level, with a whole galaxy to explore,” said Disney’s CEO Bob Iger at the D23 Expo 2015.

And he’s not kidding. Just look at this concept art.

There will be two signature attractions, including the ability to take the controls of a certain ship, just a little one, just the… Millennium Falcon. Oh yes, you’ll go behind the wheel of the beloved ship on a customised secret mission.

The second will be an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle.

No news on when they’ll arrive as yet, but we’ll start topping up the piggy bank now…
