In cinemas this week: The Man from UNCLE, Paper Towns, Trainwreck

Swinging sixties spies, mysterious girls, and a raunchy romcom

THE MAN FROM UNCLE ★★

Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer team up in Guy Ritchie’s reboot of the 60s spy TV show. There’s lots of beautiful people, colourful sets and big explosions, but a lack of wit and verve.

PAPER TOWNS ★★★

Model Cara Delevingne plays the free spirit who turns teenager Nat Woolf’s life upside down, in this John Hughes-esque drama based on the novel by John Green (The Fault in Our Stars).

TRAINWRECK ★★★★

Another Judd Apatow comedy with a strong female lead, in this case hit American TV comic Amy Schumer. She plays a journalist behaving badly and looking for love (and sex) in all the wrong places, in a painfully funny and honest look at modern romance.

MISTRESS AMERICA ★★★★★

Noah Baumbach and his Frances Ha co-writer and lead actress Greta Gerwig reteam for another masterful Woody Allen-style comedy of Manhattan manners, in which a student and a ditzy socialite form an unlikely friendship.
