Tyrone and Fiz look set to experience an emotionally fraught Christmas as they’re left fearing that it could be Hope’s last final festive season.
As has recently been reported, Fiz’s daughter is to be diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a highly aggressive form of cancer.
Now, show boss Stuart Blackburn has revealed that the Dobbs family is to take centre stage over Christmas thanks to Hope’s medical diagnosis. Speaking at a press conference, the producer said:
“The sadness is the fear that it could be Hope’s last Christmas. But what she is going to have is the best Christmas Day ever.”
Blackburn also teased that Father Christmas could also be making an appearance in Weatherfield this December. “Santa is real and he’s genuinely coming,” he added.
Back in July, it was reported that – in order to portray Hope’s story as sensitively and accurately as possible – Coronation Street had consulted the charity Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance, as well as medics and parents of children who have been diagnosed with the cancer.
