Bill Murray to cameo in the all-female Ghostbusters film

The veteran actor is apparently making a return to the franchise he helped to originate in the 1980s

Bill Murray really ain’t afraid of no ghost, because he’s coming back to the Ghostbusters franchise.

Yes, the original two spooktacular movies’ Peter Venkman is set to appear in a cameo role in Paul Feig’s reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter, though he probably won’t be handling a proton pack this time around – or crossing the streams (don’t cross the streams, please).

Murray will reportedly appear alongside main stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in the upcoming film, despite previous assertions that he wasn’t keen on having a part in the new incarnation of the story.

And while there’s no official word on what kind of character he might be playing, film site Birth.Movies.Death has reported that Murray will appear as a sceptic set against the ‘busters, in stark contrast with his heroic ghost-savvy role in the original.

No matter what the truth is, we’re just happy to see the actor back in the spectral fold – a veritable Mur-Ray of Sunshine. Clearly, the casting agents knew exactly who they were gonna call.

Ghostbusters will be released in the UK on July the 22nd 2016
