Coronation Street: savage attack on Jason Grimshaw “will shock viewers”

The Corrie builder to be left fighting for his life following an assault by Callum's gang

Weatherfield favourite Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) is to be left on critical list following a brutal attack by Callum Logan’s (Sean Ward) gang.

According to reports, builder Jason will be left fighting for his life following the assault, with mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and dad Tony (Terence Maynard) left praying that he’ll pull through.

Jason is to get on the wrong side of Callum after he tries to get him to stop threatening the Platts. Callum – who is also set to embroil Sarah’s daughter Bethany in a drug-dealing job – will then order a reprisal attack on Jason. But what will Jason’s hard man dad Tony do after he finds out that Callum is responsible for the beating that has put his boy in hospital?

“The gang’s attack on Jason is truly sickening and will definitely shock viewers. But that is exactly what bosses want to achieve,” a show source told the Sun today. “They want to show fans how evil Callum can be when he puts his mind to it.”

The character of Jason Grimshaw has been a mainstay on Coronation Street since 2000. He has already had a brush with death back in 2007 when David Platt sabotaged some scaffolding and sent Jason plummeting to the ground below. Last year, Jason’s brother Todd also ended up in hospital after being attacked by a gang of thugs while on a night out.
