Comic-Con played host to a new Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer with stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams on hand to promote Zack Snyder’s comic book mash-up.
There was a lot more of Affleck in the new look at the film as the menacing black superhero – and a clue as to why he and Cavill’s superman are not the best of friends in Snyder’s follow-up to Man of Steel.
“That’s how it starts. The fever. The rage, a feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel,” says Jeremy Iron’s Alfred to Batman.
“He has the power to wipe out the entire human race,” Batman replies. “I’m going to have to destroy him.”
The destruction of Wayne Tower is shown in the new footage, in scenes where the falling building and the onrush of soot and dust could be felt by some to be eerily reminiscent of real-life news footage of terrorist attacks.
Fans also got their first looks at Gal Gadot in action in her Wonder Woman get-up as well as Jesse Eisenberg’s youthful take on Lex Luthor (and we think we spotted some Kryptonite about his person, which is probably not good news for someone we know).
“The red capes are coming … the red capes are coming …,” he says, suggesting that he may be a source of quite a few laughs in the movie.
Also, he’s not wrong…
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in the US on March 25
