Coronation Street: see Ken’s speech from Deirdre’s funeral – and get a preview of Peter’s return

Watch the trailer for next week's emotional episodes of the ITV soap

Coronation Street fans can get a preview of the upcoming funeral of Deirdre Barlow in this brand-new trailer.

In the promo, Ken is seen describing Deirdre as “the lynchpin” of the community before going on to lambast Tracy for causing her more pain and worry than anyone else in her life.

The trailer also sees Peter Barlow make his return to Weatherfield, with his arrival set to bring heartache for the Barlows, who go on to row about who was responsible for Deirdre’s death.

An upset Tracy can be glimpsed yelling at both Ken and Peter that they both have blood on their hands.

The funeral of Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) will be screened next week on Coronation Street

Says William Roache of the scenes: “What’s great about the Street is that it draws on its own history, so we get to explore everything that’s gone on in the past.

“Ken really has a go at her about her behaviour. How she never cares or listens and ends up bringing her misfortunes on her own head. Deirdre spent a lot of time trying to excuse Tracy’s behaviour and that makes Ken angry,

“And when Peter arrives, we then get a real exploration into the relationships between Ken, Peter and Tracy.”
