Paul Feig reveals new Ghostbusters proton pack

And we know one thing it should never be used for...

Just days after unveiling the costumes for his all-female Ghostbusters, director Paul Feig has also revealed what Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy et al WON’T be crossing the streams with. Seriously, don’t cross the streams.

Yup, it’s the proton pack – the gadget used in the original 1984 film by the titular spook-nabbers to capture and trap ghosts. If you want to get technical, it’s a “neutrino wand” connected to a backpack particle accelerator, and it basically releases “a stream of protons that polarises the negatively charged energy of a ghost, allowing it to be held in the stream.” But let’s not get too technical.

We have to say though, this pack looks pretty beaten up (perhaps in keeping with our theory about the movie being set in the past), and if anything looks even more basic than the original movie’s version (see below).

Still, whatever the pack’s origins, we know what it’ll be used for – bustin’ ghosts, and NOT crossing the streams. Why would they do that? That’d just be dangerous. Nope, no chance of that at all.

… Please don’t cross the streams.
