The Minions travel in three different Tardises for Doctor Who-inspired video

The cult characters appeared in various TV locations pursued by Radio 1’s Greg James in the newly-released sketch

We’ve met the Doctor’s new companions – and they’re tiny, yellow and incomprehensible.

Well, sort of – the fan-favourite Minions of the Despicable Me animated films (who have their own spin-off film coming out this weekend) didn’t actually travel with the Time Lord, but they certainly had a good go at piloting his blue box in a new video released by Radio 1.

The sketch sees DJ Greg James forced to shepherd the wayward Minions towards their appearance on the One Show – but they get a bit diverted (as anyone would be) when they spot the Tardis.

Or should that be Tardis-es? You see, the yella fellas don’t just take a jaunt in Peter Capaldi’s ride but also try their luck in an appropriately black-and-white version of William Hartnell’s console room, as well as the Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s grungier interior.

The Minions also visit the set of Coronation street, Blue Peter and various news programmes in the video, which you can see below – though if you’re only interested in the Doctor Who segment, that begins at around 2 minutes 25 seconds.

All in all, it’s a fun way to pay tribute to Britain’s great TV shows – although we’re not sure if we can quite forgive Greg James for his regenerating Tenth Doctor impression.

I don’t wanna go!

Too soon, man. Too soon.
