Jeremy Clarkson joins Hammond and May in teaser for final Top Gear special

It's almost like the fracas never happened, as the trio are 'reunited' in pre-filmed footage from a forthcoming Top Gear episode

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are back to their usual antics in a new teaser trailer for Top Gear. Dressed in dinner jackets, the trio race battered and muddied cars down hills and off roads, before putting budget caravans to the test.

It’s almost like Clarkson’s recent fracas – and subsequent suspension from the BBC – never happened. In fact, the clips come from the remaining pre-recorded films from season 22 which was pulled from the schedules earlier this year amidst the scandal.

Featuring links recorded recently by James May and Richard Hammond, they will form a new one-off episode that sees the presenters “set off on an adventure that includes brown beer, breakdowns and a hair-raising classic car show” before attempting to become lifestyle leisure enthusiasts: “Restricted to a maximum budget of £250, the trio buy three massive-mileage SUVs and then embark on a series of action-packed challenges that include battling with the Stig’s Leisure Activity Cousin and a race with terrifying consequences for the loser.”

Fans will no doubt be excited to see Top Gear returning to the schedules, but after the new episode, the future of Top Gear remains uncertain. The BBC have announced plans to continue the motoring show without Jeremy Clarkson, who has said he plans to “do another car show”, and are reportedly still in talks with Hammond and May, who have both publicly rejected the idea of continuing without Clarkson.

The Top Gear special is expected to air in the next few weeks on BBC2
