Did you spot Gwendoline Christie in the Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 trailer?

The Game of Thrones actress makes her Hunger Games debut in the final instalment of the dystopian franchise

Fast forward to the 49-second mark in the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and you might just spot a familiar face.

Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie – aka Brienne of Tarth – makes her Hunger Games debut, playing Commander Lyme in the film franchise’s final instalment, which is due to hit cinemas this November.

Her casting was announced back in 2014 when she replaced American Horror Story’s Lily Rabe in the role, and now we’ve had our first glimpse of her in character.

It’s going to be a busy autumn/winter at the cinema for the actress, who also makes her Star Wars debut this December: she’s the woman behind the mysterious Chrome Trooper.

Getting back to Mockingjay business, though, Christie’s Commander Lyme is described in the book as middle-aged, over six feet tall, and very muscular. A former Hunger Games victor, she’s one of the most fervent supporters of the rebellion in District 2 and is eager to help Katniss bring down President Snow.

And she’s not the only familiar face in the new teaser trailer. The late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman makes an appearance as Plutarch Heavensbee alongside Julianne Moore (President Coin) in the opening moments, followed by glimpses of Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Natalie Dormer.

While there’s plenty of heavy action and dystopian drama throughout the film’s first footage, there’s also some light relief as Banks’ Effie Trinket sheds her Mockingjay Part 1 rags for those familiar flamboyant costumes and Finnick Odair celebrates a big day.

But who will get their happily ever after?

In Panem the odds are never in your favour – can she who dares win?
