Actress Mary Ellen Trainor dies aged 62

The Lethal Weapon and The Goonies star has passed away from pancreatic cancer

Mary Ellen Trainor has died aged 62. The American actress, who was best known for playing police psychiatrist Dr Stephanie Woods in all four Lethal Weapon movies, passed away from pancreatic cancer.

Her death at her home in California was confirmed by long-time friend Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, who said: “Mary and I have been close since our days together as college room-mates and she even provided the introduction to Steven Spielberg that jump-started my career. She was a great actress, warm friend and generous spirit.”

Trainor memorably played mum Mrs Walsh in 1985 cult classic The Goonies, but her extensive TV and film career included roles in Roswell, Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters 2, Cheers, Die Hard, Death Becomes Her, Romancing the Stone and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.
