Olivia Colman sings about flowers and hanging baskets in first clip from London Road

The Broadchurch star sings about petunias and begonias in this exclusive clip from the new film based on the National Theatre hit about the 2006 Ipswich murders

Olivia Colman sings a movingly mundane song about flowers in the first clip from new film London Road.

The Broadchurch star plays the organiser of Ipswich’s Neighbourhood Watch in the film which examines the impact on the local community of the murders of five women in Ipswich in 2006.

Based on the 2011 National Theatre hit, the film also stars Tom Hardy and Anita Dobson and, like the stage show, it’s set in and around the street where the victims worked and chronicles the murders and subsequent trial of killer Steve Wright from the perspective of local people. The lines and lyrics are all verbatim quotes from interviews conducted with the real residents of London Road.

The film is directed by Rufus Norris, who also oversaw the original stage production, and is mostly performed by the original cast.

London Road is released in UK cinemas on 12th June
