MAD MAX: FURY ROAD ★★★★

Tom Hardy cements his hardman image with a gloriously exciting reboot of the Aussie road warrior franchise. The action is spectacular, and the impressive cast also includes Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult.

A ROYAL NIGHT OUT ★★★

This sugary yarn set in 1945 is a kind of Cinderella in reverse as teenage princesses Margaret and Elizabeth take to the streets – and mingle with the commoners – to celebrate VE Day.

PITCH PERFECT 2 ★★★

It’s not as good as the original but this sequel, which follows the a cappella adventures of Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson as they enter an international singing contest, has enough fun moments and musical interludes to appeal.

CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA ★★★★

There are outstanding performances from Juliette Binoche (as a movie star struggling with getting older) and Kristen Stewart (as her long-suffering assistant) in this intriguing and thoughtful drama.
