We’ve had our first official glimpse of X-Men Apocalypse’s new stars. Director Bryan Singer has shared a snap of Sophie Turner and her co-star Lana Condor from the set of X-Men Apocalypse on Instagram. And Turner, who is taking on the role of telekenetic mutant Jean Grey, looks seven kingdoms away from her Game of Thrones character Sansa Stark.
Gone is the dark up-do and long, gothic skirts she wears in Westeros, replaced by a more 80s-inspired look. And it seems her wardrobe is also living up to her character’s name sake. Turner can be seen sporting acid-wash grey jeans and a – you guessed it – grey top.
Turner is posing alongside Condor, who plays Jubilee and is also channelling a retro vibe, with pigtails, big hoop earings and a lemon yellow leather jacket.
Singer posted another couple of images from the upcoming 80s-set film, like this retro games arcade…
And a cinema foyer which is just a little out of date.
It’s all welcome nostalgia for Singer, and those who remember the 1980s. But it is worth pointing out that Turner, having been born in 1996, isn’t one of them…
X-Men: Apocalypse is expected to be based on 1995 comic miniseries Age of Apocalypse, in which the super-powered mutants of the X-Men series have enslaved humanity.
Turner and Condor are joining fellow X-Men newcomers Olivia Munn, EastEnders’ Ben Hardy, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Alexandra Shipp in the film, as well as returning stars Jennifer Lawrence (who’s leaving the series after the next film), James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be in UK cinemas 16th May 2016
