Fast and Furious 8 gets a release date

Star Vin Diesel announces the latest motoring action movie is slated for 2017

Fast and Furious 8 has a release date, and it can’t get here fast enough.

Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, star Vin Diesel announced the new film would race into cinemas on 14th April 2017. “We’re going to make the best movie you’ve ever seen,” he promised, and we believe him because he’s Vin Diesel.

Fast and Furious 7, sequel to Fast & Furious 6, Fast Five, Fast & Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Los Bandoleros has already taken in $1.15 billion at the box office. At one point, a supercar jumps from one skyscaper to another, then crashes into another skyscraper. Also Vin Diesel and Jason Statham have a sword fight with wrenches.

Plot details for the new film are sketchy, but it is likely to involve cars.

FF8 will be the first in the franchise to start filming after the death of Paul Walker. Vin Diesel has led the dedications to his co-star, saying “Fast & Furious 7 is for Paul, Fast & Furious 8 is from Paul.”

Meanwhile, See You Again by Wiz Khalifa, a song written in tribute to the late actor and included on the FF7 soundtrack, is currently the year’s quickest selling single.
