If you thought you’d cracked every cinematic Easter Egg you might want to take another look at the Marvel universe because they’ve been hiding references to Star Wars in all their Phase 2 movies and it seems as though everyone has missed them.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige was sitting down for a chat with Cinemablend when he revealed that the studio has not-so-subtly been paying tribute to George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away since Iron Man 3 kicked off its second phase of films: Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron and the upcoming Ant-Man are all included.
But why would they do such a thing?
“I’m obsessed with Star Wars” Feige revealed, “and it didn’t start out as intentional, but it became intentional.”
MILD SPOILER ALERT! We just thought we’d warn you, Feige reveals that the nod will feature in Age of Ultron and Ant Man too.
“It sort of happens in every Star Wars movie” he continued, “but I was sort of looking at it, ‘Okay, is Phase Two our Empire Strikes Back?’ Not really, but tonally things are a little different. Somebody gets their arm cut off in every Phase Two movie. Every single one.”
And when you look back you realise it’s actually true…
