Captain Jack Sparrow is back for a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean adventure, and he seems to have got himself in a spot of bother.
Johnny Depp, who has played the rum-drinking, fun-loving pirate since the franchise’s first outing in 2003, can be seen in a first-look picture of upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He’s not looking too jolly, as fellow pirates tie him to the mast of a ship.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared the snap on twitter, along with the words “We’re not letting him go”:
Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth instalment in the swashbuckling, sea-faring series, will see Captain Jack hunted by deadly ghost pirates and old nemesis Captain Salazar who is trying to kill every buccaneer at sea. To survive, Jack must find the Trident of Poseidon. But that, presumably, will be easier said than done.
Depp is joined by Pirates newbies Javier Bardem, who plays Salazar, Skin’s star Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites, while Geoffrey Rush and Stephen Graham are reprising their roles. Rumours have been circulating that original star Orlando Bloom might return to the franchise, but there’s no official word on that just yet.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be in cinemas 2017
