Elijah Wood: It would be “awesome” to be in Game of Thrones

The man who played Frodo Baggins in Lord of the Rings reveals how much he loves the HBO fantasy series – and wouldn’t mind swapping Middle Earth for Westeros with a guest role

Elijah Wood, who memorably played Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings movies, is such a fan of HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones that he wouldn’t mind an acting role.

“It would be awesome,” he told RadioTimes.com. “I am so much of a fan, I think I would rather watch but I don’t know that I would say no.”

But of course there is a queue of would-be Game of Thrones stars.

At the premiere for the fifth series, which is currently airing on Sky Atlantic, street magician Dynamo told us that he too would love a role in the smash-hit series.

“I’d be the new Gandalf – I’d make dragons appear and have flames fly out of my hands and breathe flames like the dragons,” he laughed.

“Game of Thrones is full of great British actors and actresses. The characters are so complex – they keep shocking you and they keep killing everybody. I am not saying that killing is great. But it’s kind of fun the way they do it.”

Game of Thrones series 5 continues on Sky Atlantic on Monday nights
