The Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere through the eyes of Robert Downey Jr

Backstage pictures of the Marvel premiere from the stars themselves...

It’s safe to say that the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie premiere was the hottest ticket in Hollywood on Monday night.

But while there will be many, many shots of Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr striking a pose on the red carpet, the best way to see how mad these events can be is to follow the stars themselves.

Luckily, Downey Jr has let us do just that, having just signed up on Instagram. So, a cheeky first snap of his pre-red carpet meal (#yummy)? Not exactly…

Come get me, Instagram…

Instead, he posted a snap of the Avengers cast backstage at US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live, just before heading for the premiere. Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jimmy Kimmel – not a bad first post, even if Downey Jr is almost squeezed out of shot. Have to master that square aspect ratio…

The show’s Twitter feed published its own backstage selfie – yes, that is Scarlet Johannson.

Iron Man isn’t the only man from the Avengers cast on Instagram: Mark Ruffalo aka The Hulk posted this sweet pic of the family on the way to the red carpet. Wonder what his kids think when they see their Daddy turn green?

We can almost forgive Captain America Chris Evans the blatant promoted tweet when we see this crowd selfie. Words aren’t important here, it’s the polka-dot pin-stripe combo that counts.

Comic book writer Stan Lee meanwhile was spending some quality time with Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the movie.

While Chris Hemsworth was finding it all a bit too much if this pic from Downey Jr is anything to go by.

So Downey Jr’s social media war continues, and if his Avengers selfies are anything to go by, he has to be worth an Instagram follow.
