Betsy, whose powers include telepathy and telekinesis, was originally created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Herb Trimpe in 1976. She was initially a supporting character in the adventures of her twin brother, Captain Britain, before becoming the mutant superhero and X-Men member Psylocke in 1986.

Psylocke has briefly appeared in the film franchise before in X-Men: The Last Stand, when she was played by actress Meiling Melançon.

Munn will join fellow X-Men newcomers EastEnders’ Ben Hardy, Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPheeLana Condor and Alexandra Shipp in the film, as well as returning stars Jennifer Lawrence (who’s leaving the series after the next film), James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult.
