If you’ve ever pondered what use the ability to shrink really small would be to a superhero (as compared to, say, flight or laser eyes or something), then the new Ant-Man trailer from Marvel is essential viewing.

Giving us a better idea of Paul Rudd’s adventures as the diminutive hero, the new footage shows off Ant-Man’s powers to their full capacity as he shrinks down to take out guards, raises an army of ants and runs up the barrel of a gun to punch someone right in the face with his tiny, tiny fist. They won’t know what hit them – literally (he’s so small!).

Elsewhere, the new footage also shows us more of Corey Stoll’s villainous Yellowjacket, whose own shrinking suit has a few add-ons including some natty laser beams which he uses to judicious effect in a few adorable battles with Ant-Man. We always knew Thomas the Tank Engine was deadly  – you can see it in his eyes…

Basically, Ant-Man looks an awful lot cooler than a really, really tiny little Mike from Friends has any right to be – though we’re still not sure whether we’d describe his powers as “godlike” (which is how Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, the inventor of the suit describes them).

Though maybe we’d be best not to argue…
