Gareth Malone on why Game of Thrones should win at the Bafta TV Awards 2015

The TV choirmaster is hooked on the fantasy drama— here's why...

What’s your favourite thing about Game of Thrones?

I love that nobody is safe – that’s refreshing in American drama. I love the long form, novel-based narrative, which you can get your teeth into. It has substance despite being, superficially, a fantasy story.

Where do you watch it and with whom?

On the sofa with Mrs M. She loves it too, which surprised me because it gets pretty violent.

What has been your stand-out moment from the series?

Three words – The Red Wedding. Although I can’t say I enjoyed it. I’ve been a fan of drama for many years and it takes a lot to surprise me, but I have to say that episode did. I actually stood up in horror.
