The Carter family is to become more divided than ever in the wake of patriarch Stan’s death.
Curmudgeonly Stan (Timothy West) is to pass away at the end of this week’s visits to Albert Square, but the aftermath will see the Carters split into two factions thanks to Mick and Shirley’s animosity.
In the episode to be shown on Monday 13 April, both Shirley and Buster will be seen going to visit Dean in prison. And as Buster breaks the news about Stan to Dean, it’s clear he’s struggling to cope and Shirley rushes out.
Back at the Vic, an angry Cora arrives having gone to the hospice unaware Stan had passed away and starts throwing accusations causing Mick to snap. Later on, Tina pleads with Mick to make amends with Shirley and he promises to try. Mick raises a glass for Stan but – true to form – a drunken Shirley soon causes a commotion.
The next day, the Carter clan come to blows once again when Buster leaves Mick frustrated after offering to pay for Stan’s funeral. By Friday, Linda will grow increasingly tired of the family feud when Mick insists on paying for half of Stan’s send-off.
Taking matters into her own hands, Linda meets with Pam and Billy to discuss their options. On a mission to build bridges between the family, she invites Buster and a reluctant Shirley over for a family meal.
Things start to thaw between them all, but the Carters soon find themselves back to square one when Linda receives some bad news. Just what is this latest bombshell to disrupt life behind the bar of the Queen Vic?
