Minions to get their own comic book series

The stars of the Despicable Me films and upcoming spin-off Minions will feature in a series of comics and graphic novels this summer

They stole the show in two Despicable Me films and this summer get their own spin-off flick Minions, but now the wide-eyed yellow favourites are branching into the world of comics.

Yup, the Minions will take their big screen adventures to the page this summer when they star in their very own line of comics and graphic novels from Titan Comics to tie in with the July release of their upcoming movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Animators Didier Ah-koon and Renaud Collin will recreate Stuart, Kevin, Bob and the rest of their bright yellow friends in comic book format for four issues, two digest collections, two hardcover editions and a paperback collection.

For those not yet familiar with the much-loved characters, Minions have existed since the beginning of time, evolved from single-celled organisms, and only have one purpose in life: to serve history’s most despicable masters. The first Despicable Me film saw them serve supervillain Gru (Steve Carrell), but over the years they have dispatched with various lieges including a T. Rex, Genghis Khan, Napoleon and Dracula.

The first issue of the Minions comic book will be released digitally and in selected comic book stores on 17th June.

Minions stars Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Pierre Coffin and is released in UK cinemas on 26th June 2015. Watch the trailer below:
