Following MI5’s counter-terrorism unit as they battled to protect London, Spooks was one of the BBC’s longest-running and best-loved spy dramas.
We tuned in for 10 seasons, as our favourite characters were killed off with very little warning, or in shockingly gruesome ways (we’ll never look at deep fat fryers in the same way again). And now, four years after its final episode aired, Spooks is returning for a big-screen outing.
The Greater Good will see the return of a few familiar faces, including long-running cast member Peter Firth, who appears in this exclusive still from the film.
Firth played MI5 head Harry Pearce in every single episode of the TV series, so it wouldn’t really be Spooks without him. We won’t be finding Harry in an especially happy place, though. He is “disgraced and forced to resign” after a terrorist escapes from custody and “disappears one night off a bridge into the Thames…”
Talking of that escaped terrorist, here’s a glimpse of Spooks newcomer Elyes Gabel. The Casualty alumnus stars as “charismatic terrorist” Adem Qasim, who is plotting a “devastating attack on the heart of MI5 in London.”
The film, which also stars Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington and Sherlock’s Lara Pulver, will be in UK cinemas 8th May.
