One fan certainly thought so when she decided to interrupt a Q&A for Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River to ask her girlfriend to marry her.

The 34-year-old actor was taking part in a panel for his film, starring Matt Smith, Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes and Saoirse Ronan, at South By Southwest film festival (SXSW) when a member of the audience decided it was high time she popped the question.

“I think your film is amazing,” she said, adding: “I’m going to kind of take away from it for a bit if I can and ask my girlfriend of 11 years if she’ll marry me.”

While the audience was audibly shocked, Mendes and Ronan can be seen putting their hands to their faces and an adorable Gosling, clearly not in the least bit bothered by the switch in spotlight, told the crowd: “We’ve got a marriage proposal going on right now.”

The star then walked down to the front of the stage to offer the lovers his microphone so the rest of the auditorium could hear the heartfelt proposal – and acceptance – for themselves.

“Well, let’s go out on that note, shall we?” a clapping Gosling said immediately afterwards, adding: “Congratulations to the happy couple!”
