Chrissie White will discover the awful truth about son Lachlan’s actions in chilling scenes to be shown next week.
Teeanger Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) was seen recently sexually assaulting Alicia Metcalfe (Natalie Anderson), but then going on to claim that she was grooming him. But Chrissie will realise that Lachlan has been lying when she forges ahead with her plan to prosecute Alicia in court.
“Chrissie is certain that the only way to get through all this is to go to court and prove everybody wrong, but she has to make sure that Lachlan is coherent. She tells him that if he doesn’t know the story inside out, then people will think he’s lying,” says actress Louise Marwood. “Lachlan then goes into great detail about his first kiss with Alicia and how they were in a relationship. But later on, she finds a video blog on his laptop that makes her whole world unravel.”
So what exactly has Chrissie discovered? “It’s a video of two people talking about their first kiss. The woman is wearing exactly what Alicia was wearing in Lachlan’s story and the man’s description of the kiss is word for word the same too. So then Chrissie does start to question everything. If Lachlan can lie about this, then what else can he be capable of?”
By Friday, Chrissie will have spoken to Alicia, who discloses everything that happened to her on that fateful afternoon. And Chrissie is left having to face a son who continues to show no sign of remorse.
“As a mother, there’s that constant desire to protect your child,” says Marwood. “There’s the denial, the blaming of someone else, the deflecting…But this is the moment when Chrissie has to face up to the truth. And then, of course, there will be all those questions that she’ll be left wrestling with: is she a bad mother, is there anything she could have done or was he born like this?”
