They say it’s a small world, but did you know it’s an even smaller universe? Well, at least when it comes to Doctor Who anyway.
So many of the show’s stars have popped up in another fictional universe, with at least 18 of them making an appearance in the magical realm of Harry Potter.
The wizarding world just wasn’t enough for some though. Meet the Doctor Who stars who made it all the way to the Marvel universe…
The Ninth Doctor made quite the transformation for his Marvel movie debut so you could be forgiven for failing to recognise him in costume. Christopher Eccleston traded the Tardis for Thor’s Dark World, playing Malekith the Accursed, leader of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.
The fact that Thor and Loki were willing to team up to stop him plunging the Nine Realms into darkness says a lot about the Marvel supervillain.
Amy Pond may have been known for her luscious red locks but Karen Gillan broke millions of hearts by shaving them all off for Guardians of The Galaxy. Fans felt decidedly blue until they say her in action as Nebula.
Those Weeping Angels wouldn’t stand a chance against the super cool space pirate.
He may have been delightful as Harry Potter’s Dobby but he played the dark Dream Lord to Matt Smith’s Time Lord in Doctor Who, so is it any surprise that Toby Jones made such a marvellous Marvel villain?
From the Doctor’s “darkness within” to the Red Skull’s right hand man and the malevolent force that infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D, he continued his exemplary evil streak throughout Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Arnim Zola.
Doctor Who actors have a habit of popping up with you least expect them and that’s definitely the case with young Laurence Belcher. The boy who played young Kazran in A Christmas Carol made his Marvel debut playing a junior X-Men founder.
Yep, that’s right, he was the young Charles Xavier who first encountered mini Mystique in X-Men: First Class.
