Kayvan Novak’s Comic Relief Bake Off… in quotes

The Fonejacker star was pretty sure of himself in the tent - even blaming his mum when it all went wrong

Actor Kayvan Novak, best known for playing comedy character Fonejacker, entered the tent for the fourth and final instalment of The Great Comic Relief Bake Off tonight. But it wasn’t so much his baking that helped the actor stand out in the tent, rather his wide-ranging thoughts on the kitchen and his particular set of skills.

Up against comedy legend Victoria Wood, DJ Chris Moyles and fashionista Alexa Chung – who were all bidding to earn the Star Baker apron – Novak had no fear about his lack of experience. Toying with Chung, he pulled faces at the camera while giving her salted caramel a go.

Of course he had no grand illusions about how good his own bake was…

Who hasn’t got time to do push ups while their tray bake sits in the oven?

When Novak’s bake was ready, you’d be forgiven for thinking Simba was about to be introduced to the Pride…

And when it went wrong, well, it wasn’t his fault. It was his mum’s cardamom jam that had ruined the whole thing. Or so he told Paul and Mary…
