We know cooking doesn’t get much tougher than MasterChef, but in the teaser trailer for the new 11th series Gregg Wallace and John Torode’s fast-paced culinary competition has been turned into a full-blown foodie bootcamp, complete with marine-style marching song.

Lyrics like “Masterchef is big and bold / back again or so I’m told” are cut together with clips of the show’s long-standing judges tasting and critiquing their creations.

Plus shots of this year’s contestants wiping their sweaty brows and attempting to calm their shaking hands. Pull yourself together soldier!

We commend Masterchef’s effort. But if you ask us, it doesn’t come close to the cooking show’s original, unofficial, musical hit.

Soft and buttery fondant potato just doesn’t have the same ring to it as buttery biscuit base. Remember, the base, base, base, base, the buttery biscuit base…?
