Julianne Moore has won best actress at this year’s Oscars.
The 54-year-old actress has picked up the prize for her role in Richard Glatzer’s film Still Alice.
Collecting her coveted award, Moore said: “Thank you so much. I read an article that said that winning an Oscar could lead to living give years longer. If that’s true I’d really like to thank the Academy because my husband is younger than me.”
“There is no such thing as best actress,” she adding, referencing her fellow nominees: “I’ve been honoured to be among you every step of the way.”
“I’m thrilled we could shine a light on Alzheimer’s disease. Film makes us feel seen and not alone. People with Alzheimer’s deserve to be seen so we can find a cure.”
This is Moore’s first win, after being nominated four times in the past for Boogie Nights,The End of the Affair, Far from Heaven and The Hours.
