Your best Benedict Cumberbatch portraits

After publishing our three artist-inspired Benedict Cumberbatch covers, we asked you to send in your best artworks featuring the Sherlock star. And the results were amazing...

When Radio Times commissioned artist Chris West to create three Benedict Cumberbatch covers to celebrate the Oscars and The Big Painting Challenge, we had no idea it would lead to such incredible portrait work.

We knew you were up for the challenge, and so we asked you to send in your examples of Cumberbatch artwork – and you did not disappoint.

We’ve created a gallery below of some of our favourites from email and social media – just click on the thumbnails to view. Below the gallery you can see the artists’ original tweets to us. Feel free congratulate them on their work! And for the people who have submitted their works by email, we have added your names below.

Artist Chris West was the man who started all this off with his three Oscars special Benedict Cumberbatch covers. Find out how he approached the three very different designs here.

Don’t forget to use the four blank postcards that came with each magazine to submit your own artwork (Cumber-themed or otherwise) into The Little Painting Challenge. This is a competition run by the makers of The Big Painting Challenge on BBC1 on Sunday evenings, which is presented by Sherlock’s very own Una Stubbs aka Mrs Hudson.
