Everyone’s a winner in awards season, even if they don’t always want to be: Cameron Diaz and Kirk Cameron have been given the dubious honour of the worst actress and actor at this year’s Golden Raspberry Awards.
The ‘Razzies’ act as a sort of anti-Oscars, with a $4.97 gold spray-painted berry trophy for any performer brave enough to turn up and collect it in person (actress Halle Berry even gave a speech in 2005, thanking the makers of Catwoman for “putting me in a Godawful movie).
Diaz won best actress thanks to her roles in both Sex Tape and The Other Woman, while former child star Cameron earned his place as the worst actor of 2015 thanks to his seasonal monstrosity Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas.
The film also won Worst Picture, an accolade to go with its perfect Zero rating on Rotten Tomatoes – a rare double.
Michael Bay smashed his way to Worst Director for Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. The US director won the same award back in 2009 for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
The Razzies did see it fit to award a special gong this year named the Redeemer award. This went to actor and director Ben Affleck, who went from Worst Actor in the 2003 Razzies for Gigli to Oscar best picture winner in 2013 for his film Argo.
Ben Affleck: proof that there is still hope, even for Michael Bay.
