Actress Jo Joyner has been speaking about her disappointment after making a mistake during live scenes in Wednesday evening’s EastEnders.

When her character Tanya Cross arrived back in Walford for best friend Jane’s (Laurie Brett) wedding, she said the line, “How’s Adam?” instead of “How’s Ian?”, referencing Adam Woodyatt’s real name.

Taking to Twitter post-transmission, Joyner admitted that she was “gutted” about confusing actor and character.

But co-star Jake Wood – who plays Tanya’s former husband Max Branning – was quick to make light of the blooper, posting a fake script change (written by comedian David Schneider) that showed Ian Beale was planning to permanently change his name to Adam Woodyatt.

Wood’s comments come after he too caused confusion during Tuesday’s episode of the BBC1 soap when fans were left wondering whether he’d said “who killed Lucy” or “you killed Lucy” during a confrontation with daughter Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald).

EastEnders continues tonight with two episodes – an hour-long special at 7.30pm and a special flashback instalment at 9.25pm that will trace Lucy Beale’s final movements on the night of her murder.
