David Tennant’s Broadchurch voiceover is now a brilliant video — and it really isn’t like Doctor Who

"My name is Detective Alec Hardy. I like to wear un-ironed shirts and stare at the horizon..."

It’s always great when an actor can mock themselves, and David Tennant does that impressively…

RadioTimes.com reported in January that the man who is currently playing moody Alex Hardy in the ITV detective drama had narrated the Broadchurch theme-tune on Absolute Radio.  He discussed his frequent shouting for no reason, staring at things on the beach, the secret behind Olivia Colman’s wobbly bottom lip, his tips to Bafta-winning acting success… and most crucially, why Broadchurch is NOT like Doctor Who.

“It was nothing like Doctor Who, so that’s nice…

“It stars me and Arthur Darvill – who played Rory – but it’s nothing like Doctor Who…

“And nobody’s noticed Gwen from Torchwood, because it isn’t Doctor Who…

“Or that young journalist, who was also once in Doctor Who… as was the psychotherapist – and Olivia Colman… but like I say, it’s nothing like Doctor Who…”

As if all that wasn’t amazing enough, now there’s the perfect video to match the voice-over to fully illustrate how NOT LIKE DOCTOR WHO the ITV drama really is…
