Doctor Who is not just for muggles. The magical celebrity elite also happen to enjoy the story of a universally famous man of wealth and privilege jetting around time and space doing whatever the hell he wants.
But who are these stars that – just like all of us – take a break every Saturday from an immense life of fame and riches to watch their favourite tea-time sci-fi series? Well, lucky for you, we’ve rounded up some of the most famous Whovians in the world – some of which may just surprise you.
You probably won’t be seeing Depp turning up at a convention any time soon, but the actor is definitely a fan – albeit more of the Classic series. According to his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory co-star Deep Roy, Depp has expressed his love for the gothic Philip Hinchcliff era of the series, citing Tom Baker’s 1977 serial The Talons of Weing Chiang (which Roy featured in) as his favourite ever story. This may, or may not, have been part of the reason why he’s been so strongly rumoured as being a big screen version of the Doctor ever since the show returned in 2005.
