The first full trailer for Netflix’s superhero show Daredevil asks: can you be both a superhero and a good Catholic?
The teaser shows Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) confessing his sins to a priest, his sins mostly consisting of punching bad guys. Unfortunately, he hasn’t committed the sins yet. He’s looking for a free pass ahead of time.
It’s been a long, long time since our last confession, but we don’t think that’s how it works.
Despite the revelatory tone, the trailer doesn’t show much. Perhaps because it’s so dark. Seriously, you try and find a distinguishable screencap.
Nevertheless, fans can spot Matt’s original ninja-esque suit (before he strapped on the red leather) and the back of crime boss the Kingpin’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) shaven head. The cataclysmic, catechistic tone also nods at classic, religious story lines from comic book writers like Frank Miller, but doesn’t give much insight into the plot.
Daredevil will debut on April 10th worldwide. It’s the first look at Netflix and Marvel’s superhero posse, which also includes AKA Jessica Jones starring David Tennant.
