BBC1’s Twitter feed was the bearer of good news after Sunday night’s emotional series finale: Last Tango in Halifax WILL be back for a fourth series.
Writer Sally Wainwright’s intelligently wrought family drama will return for another run on BBC1. While details are scarce, it is expected the fourth series will follow the previous model and air some time towards the end of 2015.
Over 6 million viewers watched Sunday’s series three finale starring Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi, which saw Gillian (Nicola Walker) preparing to tie the knot with charmless partner Robbie (Dean Andrews).
Wainwright also created 2014’s Happy Valley and ITV crime drama Scott and Bailey, and won two Baftas in 2013 for Last Tango.
