Rachael Taylor joins David Tennant in Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones

The Australian Grey's Anatomy and Crisis actress is the latest name to be confirmed for the Netflix comic book series

The cast list for Marvel TV series AKA Jessica Jones is filling up nicely: first there was David Tennant and Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter, now we have Grey’s Anatomy and Crisis star Rachael Taylor.

Taylor will play Patricia Walker, best friend to the titular character Jessica Jones, and known as Hellcat in the comic series.

Doctor Who and Broadchurch star Tennant has already been cast as villain Kilgrave in the Marvel Studios series, set to stream on Netflix.

Krysten Ritter will play Jessica Jones, a former superhero now working as a private detective in New York, while Halo actor Mike Colter will play Luke Cage, aka Power Man.

Executive producer of the series Jeph Loeb, said of Taylor’s casting: “Rachael’s ability to embody a character that must balance both the darker and lighter elements of our series will provide a perfect emotional anchor for Jessica Jones.”

Tennant meanwhile told RadioTimes.com exclusively that appearing in a Marvel series was a childhood dream come true.

“I grew up on Marvel comics, so it’s very exciting to be part of their ever expanding entertainment empire,” he said. “It’s great. I love the movies, I love the TV shows, so I’m very pleased to be part of one.”
