The Voice 2015: Who is Esmée Denters?

Get to know the YouTube sensation who tries her luck in front of coaches, Rita Ora, Sir Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson tonight

For one of the coaches there’s a familiar face auditioning in tonight’s episode of The Voice. Esmée Denters certainly has a shocking story about the time she met (more on that below). So before we get to the business of the Blind Auditions – and find out whether any of the coaches actually turn while she performs – here’s a little more about the singer:

> With more than 138 million hits, Denters is known as one of the original YouTube sensations

> She’s originally from the Netherlands and now lives in London

> She’s just 25-years-old

> You can find Esmée on Twitter @esmeeworld where she has 127k followers

> She had a record deal with Justin Timberlake’s label, Tennman Records in 2007

> In 2009 she landed a top ten UK hit with debut single Outta Here. Her album of the same name included a charity duet with Timberlake

> In what turned out to be a potentially life-saving encounter, met Esmée at a YouTube event in 2008. It caused him to miss his stay in the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai at the time when it was stormed by gunmen in a horrific terrorist attack

> She records covers of current tracks for her YouTube channel, including this version of Hozier’s Take Me To Church

> This cover of Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud

and this one of Taylor Swift’s Blank Space

> Denters has supported Enrique Iglesias, Ne-Yo, N-Dubz and more on tour

> On tonight’s episode of The Voice she performs Coldplay’s Yellow for the Blind Auditions

See how she gets on from 7pm tonight on BBC1
