Comic Relief line-up: Dermot O’Leary danceathon, Bake Off and Mr Bean

Red Nose Day returns in March and viewers can look forward to a 24-hour dance marathon and celebrity baking...

Comic Relief will be back in March and famous faces are already digging out their red noses and thinking up entertaining ways to raise money. Once again, there’ll be a full night of televised fun on Friday 13th, with special guest stars, comedy sketches and music in support of aid work in the UK and Africa.

Here’s what we know so far…

Dermot’s Day of Dance

X Factor host and Radio 2 DJ Dermot O’Leary is going to dance for a whole day – yes, 24 hours – in aid of Comic Relief.

Dermot’s Day of Dance will kick off on The One Show on Thursday 12th March before Mr O’Leary will take up residence outside the BBC studio, with famous faces and members of the public there to cheer him on. All 24 hours of his grooving will be streamed live on the red button and Radio 2 will follow all the hip-wiggling action, too. We’re hoping for a splash of the Macarena. Perhaps a bit of Gangnam Style. Maybe even a twerk or two?

Excited? We are. We worked hard to get Derms to dance on the X Factor again. After a year of campaigning (ie. moaning a lot about his lack of dancing at the opening of each show), he finally whipped out those moves with his dedicated ‘Dermorettes’. Bring on the Dermot-athon…

The Great Comic Relief Bake Off

In February, 16 celebrities will be taking up residence in the Bake Off tent for another round of The Great Comic Relief Bake Off. Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry will be on hand to set tasks, taste and – in Paul’s case – tell everyone that’s not how it’s done and walk off menacingly.

Apparently we can look forward to a fine crop of celebrities this year. At the National Television Awards, Hollywood said he was “really, genuinely” staggered by the calibre of the contestants taking part. Berry cheekily added that this didn’t mean their baking was amazing…

Mr Bean

Mr Bean is back! Almost 20 years after his eponymous ITV series ended, Rowan Atkinson’s beloved simpleton is returning to the small screen in a sketch that was shot last week. Sadly, there’s no word on whether there’ll also be a cameo from Teddy…

Bean was last seen struggling his way through a Chariots of Fire skit at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, further cementing his position in the eyes of the world as the quintessential bumbling Englishman.

Let’s Play Darts

Pro darts players will join forces with celebrities to battle for the title of ‘Let’s Play Darts for Comic Relief Champions 2015’.

Presented by Gabby Logan, the show will see comedians and celebrities Lee Mack, Bob Mortimer, Liza Tarbuck, Sean Lock, Tim Vine, Roisin Conaty,Richard Osman and Martin Offiah team up with ACTUAL darts players including Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams, Bobby ‘King of Bling’ George, Andy ‘The Viking’ Fordham and Deta ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Hedman.

We anticipate some comedy moments between- and probably during- throws…
